🎓 2026-27 Scholarship Opportunities

SOCU is offering educational scholarships for the 2026/2027 school year. The Member Scholarship will be awarded to individuals in amounts up to $1,000. The SOCU Leaders Scholarship (essay required) will be awarded to one recipient in the amount of $2,500.

MEMBER SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must meet ALL of the following criteria:

  1. Student must be a member in good standing of SOCU. This means candidates must not have any delinquent loans, charge off accounts or negative balances. Note: The applicant must be or become a primary member of SOCU by April 1, 2026 to apply for the scholarships.
  2. Student must be enrolled, or will be enrolled as a full-time student, in an accredited
    college, university, or trade school.
  3. Student must have a current minimum GPA of 2.0.
  4. Student must attend college during the school year listed on the scholarship application.
  5. Students who have previously received a SOCU Scholarship may NOT reapply.

LEADERS SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY

  1. Student must be a member in good standing of SOCU. This means candidates must not have any delinquent loans, charge off accounts or negative balances. Note: The applicant must be or become a primary member of SOCU by April 1, 2026 to apply for the scholarship.
  2. Student must be enrolled, or will be enrolled as a full-time student, in an accredited college, university, or trade school.
  3. Field of Study: Preference will be given to students pursuing degrees in Business, Finance, Education, Public Service, or Technology, reflecting SOCU’s commitment to developing future leaders who embody the credit union philosophy of people helping people.
  4. Student must have a current minimum GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  5. Student must attend college during the school year listed on the scholarship application.
  6. Students who have previously received a SOCU Scholarship may NOT reapply.

APPLICATION

  1. Must be postmarked by April 1, 2026.
  2. Must be filled out completely.
  3. Must be typed or printed neatly in blue or black ink.

SELECTION
The SOCU Scholarship Committee will review all applications. Eligible applicants will be selected at the April 2026 Scholarship Committee meeting.

PAYMENT
Each award will be paid directly to the student. The student must present their school enrollment before payment can be made. Each scholarship will be payable no later than December 31, 2026.
Each scholarship recipient will receive a remembrance certificate. The recipient’s name and picture may be used for public relations purposes.

CANCELLATION
Failure to maintain your full-time status at school (including termination from school or dropping out of school) will result in the cancellation of the award and any remaining funds will be returned to the credit union.

SOCU Employees, Board of Directors, Supervisory Committee and Credit Committee, and their immediate family are not eligible for these scholarships.
